BVVA Update: April 20, 2021

April 20, 2021

Good Morning BVVA Wolf Pack,

The date for ordering BVVA yearbooks has been extended to Friday, April 30th!  We hope that you will consider ordering a yearbook this year, even if your student plans to return to a traditional school next year.  It is an excellent way to commemorate this very unique school year.  The pages are jam-packed with pictures of our fabulous students and staff. To order your copy go to Order the Yearbook here!

By now you should have received the communication from PYLUSD regarding state testing.  For those of you who have not had time to read it, the state has obtained a special waiver for this school year. This means that any district who has a system in place for monitoring the progress of their students is not required to administer the state tests. Since PYLUSD has been using iReady to monitor student progress for several years, we are exempt from giving the Smarter Balanced tests. PYLUSD teachers, including those at BVVA, regularly give iReady tests and use the results to guide instruction. Your classroom teachers will share more information about iReady testing throughout the Spring. PYLUSD will not submit the results of the individual student assessments to the state, but the score ranges and averages will be submitted by grade level and school. Since Smarter Balanced results are used by colleges for the Early Assessment Program (EAP), our 11th-grade students will still take that test near the end of May.  More information about exact dates and times will be forthcoming.

We have about eight more weeks of school, but who's counting?

Best Regards,

Carrie Bisgard

Director, BVVA
