BVVA Update: September 22, 2020

September 22, 2021

Dear BVVA Students and Families,

As you are aware, BVVA keeps growing! Because of this, we have hired a new 4th grade teacher, Ms. Jennifer Pernaitis, who is starting with us this week. We are excited to have her on board with us and know she is a great fit for our program.

Master Agreements

It is time to sign the master agreements. This is a legal requirement that we must meet in order for students to participate in an independent study school. All master agreements must be signed by September 30th, 2021.

K-6 students will see master agreements in the materials pick-up folders. Please review, sign, and return the master agreement back into your student’s folder during materials pick up this Friday, 9/24, from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Dreams for Schools materials will be available on Friday for any student who is registered to take these optional courses.

7-12 students will have master agreements emailed home. Please review, print, sign, and return these either electronically or in person. If you have already done this, thank you, please disregard.

Picture Day October 4th

Picture day is coming up for all students. Picture packages will be available to purchase from LifeTouch, and all students will be given a school photo ID on this day. Pictures will be taken in Room A of the Professional Development Academy (come in the main entrance at the PDA/BVVA school site and walk to the right) from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Tutoring with Paper.co

We are still working on hiring staff for in-person tutoring on the BVVA campus, but we are happy to share that students in grades 3 through 12 can get FREE online tutoring through Paper.co. To access this free support, students can go to the Paper app on Clever. Everything from math to essay writing help is available from trained tutors who are available 24/7

Trunk-or-Treat October 8th

The PTSA is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat on October 8th from 5 to 7 pm in the BVVA parking lot. There will be food for sale, games to play, prizes to take home, and fun to be had. Students are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume and will get treats from parents or high school volunteers who bring decorated car trunks.

In order to make this event a success, we are looking for donations of peanut-free bags of candy and volunteers to bring a decorated car trunk. If you can help with a decorated trunk, please fill out this Google Form and check the box for the Trunk-or-Treat event. We will be in contact with you. Candy donations can be dropped off in the BVVA office at any time before October 8th.

PTSA Membership Drive

The PTSA membership drive has been extended until October 1st. Submit your membership by using this link: https://jointotem.com/ca/yorba-linda/buena-vista-virtual-academy-ptsa.

The class with the most PTSA membership by October 1st will get an ice cream sundae party at the park!

PTSA Reflections Program

As a reminder, your student has the opportunity to showcase their talents and earn recognition by participating in the PTSA Reflections Contest. This year’s theme is “I Can Change the World by…” Students may select from a variety of mediums to express themselves. You can find more details by reading through the Reflections Contest Rules and Entry Form. All entries are due to the BVVA Office by Friday, October 8th at 4:00 pm

Lastly, you can start expecting just weekly newsletters from me as things start to settle. We are also moving to only have materials pick-ups on the last Friday of each month. You can plan on October 29th for the next pick-up after this week. Thank you for your patience and support!

Sincerely,

Jamie Jauch
