We do not know about you, but the BVVA Staff feel as if the year continues to fly by!  We hope you all have a little time to slow down and enjoy Thanksgiving Break next week.  We are certainly thankful for all of our families.

Report Cards

New Date: Week of November 16

High School

We had scheduled BVVA K-8 grades to go out today, November 14, however, there has been a delay related to elementary (k-6) grades.  The PYLUSD Technology Department is working on the issue and we hope to have the grades accessible in AERIES via the parent portal by Tuesday morning  (11/17).

In lieu of report cards, high school students will receive updated transcripts at the end of the Semester.

Thanksgiving Break 

November 23-27

BVVA will be closed for Thanksgiving break November 23-27, 2020.  Have a wonderful break!

Picture Day Make-Ups

The new picture make-up day is December 1, 2020.  Lifetouch will be in Room A from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.  No appointment is needed.

Cogat Testing

The Cogat test is used by the PYLUSD to assist in the identification of students eligible for GATE programs. The test is given to third and fourth-grade students throughout PYLUSD. Unlike most of what we do at BVVA, this test must be given in person. Families will have the option to test here at BVVA on December 3rd and 8th or at our PYLUSD District Board Room on select Saturdays. Families may also opt their students out of the Cogat test. More information and a letter from the PYLUSD GATE Coordinator about this test will be coming to third and fourth-grade parents soon.

Mascot Contest

Entries Due

Help us design a school mascot for Buena Vista Virtual Academy! Start brainstorming and creating a logo/mascot for BVVA. Entries are due by December 1st. 

  • Design on paper or the computer. If chosen, your design will be given to a graphic designer.
  • Include at least 3 reasons why your design represents Buena Vista
  • Include your name, grade, teacher
  • Drop off in office or email to

Returning High School Novels


Many of our 9-12 grade students have completed their first-semester language arts classes. Any novels that belong to the school can be returned to the BVVA office during regular business hours.

Reminder Regarding Elementary Pick up Days (Grades K-6)

Self-serve pick up for the following grade levels will be on these dates. We will put the items out for curbside pick up. Items are available for pick up outside from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. If you cannot make this time, the materials will be available just inside the main entrance to the building marked Professional Development Academy
