LEHS Student Named PYLUSD Outstanding Senior 2018

This Outstanding Senior came to La Entrada out of a desire to manage her own education and refuel her love for learning. She has done just that and will be graduating in June one full year early. Creative, hardworking, and passionate, she was accepted into six of the eight universities to which she applied. She will attend the University of Redlands in the fall with over $120,000 in scholarships and acceptance into the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies where she will create her own degree program---a blend of Media Studies, Production, Creative Writing, Art and Business. Please join me in congratulating the multi-talented and fiercely dedicated, Sydney Rivera.

Sydney was honored by the PYLUSD Board of Education and Executive Cabinet on Tuesday, April 17. She has been an exceptional student at La Entrada and served this year on the Superintendent's High School Advisory Council.

In an effort to model future ready skills and better support students, the La Entrada High School team started their first workshop to become Google Certified Educators on Monday, April 16, 2018. The teachers, secretary, counselor, and principal have all made a commitment to becoming level 1 certified which includes completion of various training modules as well as successful completion of a Google certification exam. Teachers have already started to transition to Google Classroom for use during the 2018-19 school-year, and all new students will complete the LEHS orientation process via Google Classroom beginning in August 2018.
