BVVA Update: April 13, 2021

Good Morning BVVA Wolf Pack,

It is difficult to believe that we have only nine more weeks in the school year. Our brand new PTSA is looking for a few individuals to serve on the BVVA PTSA Executive Board for the 2021-2022 school year. If your students are remaining at BVVA and you would like to be involved in the PTSA, we encourage you to fill out this Nomination Form. You can self-nominate or you can nominate another parent who you know might be interested in serving. The PTSA does a lot of wonderful things for BVVA and we would love to see the organization grow!

Just a reminder, traditional schools in PYLUSD announced they will be extending in-person hours as of April 19 and through the end of the school year. Elementary students wishing to transfer back as of April 19 should email our Elementary Secretary Tina at [email protected]. Tina will be happy to walk you through the next steps to ensure your student can start at their school of attendance on April 19, 2021. Transitioning in the middle of the semester is much more difficult for secondary students due to classes, schedules, and credits. We recommend that middle and high school students plan to return to traditional schools in the Fall of 2021. Rubio’s 127 East Yorba Linda Dine Out PTSA Fundraiser	THIS WEDNESDAY April 14, 2021 2pm-8pm	Mark your calendars for tacos! The BVVA PTSA will be hosting a fundraiser at Rubio’s. Proceeds to the PTSA to support BVVA programs like Outdoor Education, Parent Square, and other useful tools and events for our BVVA community. Link to Flyer HERE
Spirit Wear	Deadline for Orders: April 16	Our BVVA PTSA has been busy putting together a web store for Spirit Wear. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and Hats are all available and feature our BVVA mascot. Link to Flyer HERE Link to Web Store HERE
PTSA Meeting	April 14, 2021 6pm	BVVA PTSA General Association Meeting Open to all PTSA Members Come help us plan fun events and support our PTSA! LINK will be sent on April 14, 2021
Teacher Appreciation Week	May 3-7	Our BVVA is hosting a Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTSA will make arrangements for Tuesday-Friday but they are asking for students’ help for Monday, May 3. They have created a printable card for students to complete for teachers. These could be dropped off at the April materials pick up or emailed directly to your student’s teacher on May 3, 2021. On Campus Events	K-1: April 30th 2-3: April 16th 4: TBA 5-6: TBA	Times and additional information will follow, but these are our initial plans for the optional on-campus activities. Teachers may also be surveying parents to get information which will help them to plan. K-1: Story Time, Art, Movement 2-3: Chalk Art, Music, Games 4: TBA 5-6: TBA
Ralph’s Reward Program	Ongoing	BVVA PTSA has been approved by Ralph's Community Program. Hooray!! To Use the Ralphs Community Rewards Program: Visit https://www.ralphs.com. Once logged into your Ralphs account, you can search for BUENA VISTA VIRTUAL ACADEMY PTSA either by name or IX512 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address, and a rewards card. When parents/students/family/friends register their Ralph's card with our organization, we receive a portion of the purchases made.
EVERFI Classes	Ongoing	Everfi is a new program and option for enrichment classes for our students that they can start anytime (including summer) and move at their own pace. Students access it through their clever account. Go to Everfi and add in the registration code for the class your student wants to take. The registration codes are listed on the attached list of course descriptions. The classes are not taken for credit or a grade, they are optional enrichment classes. Please see the list HERE.
Graduation and Promotion	In-Person Ceremony: Tuesday, June 15 Rehearsal-8:30 am Ceremony-6:00 pm Location-Shapell Stadium at YLHS	If you are or have an eighth-grade student or a High School student who is planning to graduate in June you should have received an email before Spring Break with our tentative plans for Graduation ceremonies this Spring. Please indicate your preference for in-person at Shapell Stadium, drive-up at the PYLUSD District Office later in the week, or non-participation in ceremonies HERE. This information will be very helpful for our planning. Thank you!

FREE Virtual Wellness Event	April 22, 2021 2:00pm-3:30pm	The Orange County Department of Education is hosting a wellness event called “Earth Aware, Self-Care”. This free event will feature hands-on virtual activities to help middle and high school students de-stress and live healthy lives. The first 300 students to register will receive t-shirts and goodie bags! Middle and High School Wellness Event
