BVVA Update: May 4, 2021

Good Morning BVVA Wolf Pack,

Graduation planning continues! We are very excited to offer in-person and drive-up options for our Eighth Graders and High School Graduates. In addition, this year, PYLUSD is live-streaming the in-person events. This is a wonderful opportunity for friends and family members who cannot attend whether due to health concerns or distance. Our Kindergarten and Sixth-grade teams are working on smaller events to celebrate the promotion of students in those grades. These events will be here on-campus at BVVA or at the nearby Barton Park. We are planning the events outdoors, so hope for good weather during the last weeks of the school year! More information will be forthcoming on these events as it becomes available.

Some of you may already be aware of this, but I wanted to let everyone know that I will be leaving BVVA at the end of this school year. It has been my extreme pleasure to lead the team and community in developing the school. I have served in education for over 20 years, and this has been by far the most rewarding school year. I will always be proud of the work we have done here. Collaborating with the school community to meet the needs of our families at BVVA has truly been a joy. Although I would love to stay and work with the school as it grows and becomes a fixture in PYLUSD, my family has made the decision to relocate to Northern California and I have accepted a position as Principal in the El Dorado County area. Thank you again for entrusting your students’ education to us this year. It has been an honor to serve as the leader of this school.

Teacher Appreciation Week	This week! May 3-7	Our BVVA is hosting a Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTSA will make arrangements for Tuesday-Friday but they are asking for students’ help for Monday, May 3. They have created a printable card for students to complete for teachers. On Campus Events	Kinder: May 21st 1: May 28 4: May 14th 5-6: May 7th 2-3: June 4th	Times and additional information will follow, but these are our initial plans for the optional on-campus activities. Teachers may also be surveying parents to get information which will help them to plan. K-1: Story Time, Art, Movement 2-3: STEAM Day, Spheros, and Art 4: Spheros Day 5-6: Tessellation Art
Ralph’s Reward Program	Ongoing	BVVA PTSA has been approved by Ralph's Community Program. Hooray!! To Use the Ralphs Community Rewards Program: Visit https://www.ralphs.com. Once logged into your Ralphs account, you can search for BUENA VISTA VIRTUAL ACADEMY PTSA either by name or IX512 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address, and a rewards card. When parents/students/family/friends register their Ralph's card with our organization, we receive a portion of the purchases made.
EVERFI Classes	Ongoing	Everfi is a new program and option for enrichment classes for our students that they can start anytime (including summer) and move at their own pace. Students access it through their clever account. Go to Everfi and add in the registration code for the class your student wants to take. The registration codes are listed on the attached list of course descriptions. The classes are not taken for credit or a grade, they are optional enrichment classes. Please see the list HERE.
Graduation and Promotion	New Times/Date Rehearsal: Monday, June 14 at 11:00 am In Person Ceremony: Tuesday, June 15 Ceremony-5:00 pm Location-Shapell Stadium at YLHS	If you are or have an eighth-grade student or a High School student who is planning to graduate in June you should have received an email before Spring Break with our tentative plans for Graduation ceremonies this Spring. Please indicate your preference for in-person at Shapell Stadium, drive-up at the PYLUSD District Office later in the week or non-participation in ceremonies HERE. This information will be very helpful for our planning. Thank you!
